Strategic Preparation for CONVEX-3 (2025)
Between April 28–30, 2025, in Bucharest, at the CIPRIERN headquarters of CNCAN, the International Workshop on Public Communication During Nuclear and Radiological emergencies was held as part of the preparations for the international CONVEX-3 (2025) exercise . The event took place in a hybrid format, allowing participants to engage both in person and online.
The event brought together press officers and communication experts from national authorities, institutions involved in emergency management, and international organizations. Participants will play an active role in the CONVEX-3 (2025) exercise .
Over the course of three working days, key topics for enhancing public communication capacity during nuclear or radiological emergencies were discussed. Among the subjects covered were the fundamentals of communication during emergencies, risk perception, countering misinformation, media relations, and information management in sensitive contexts.
The workshop concluded with a simulation exercise (table-top), designed to test the coordinated response of communication teams in a realistic nuclear emergency scenario. The activity was well received by participants and marked an important step in preparing Romania to host the CONVEX-3 exercise at the highest international level.
The event strengthened cooperation between national institutions and international organizations, contributing to the development of a robust framework for effective, transparent, and coordinated public communication in crisis situations.
