In September 2024, the Task Group Meeting 2 (TGM-2) event took place at the CIPRIERN headquarters in Bucharest, organized to advance the preparations for the CONVEX-3 exercise in 2025.
The event was held in a hybrid format, bringing together a significant number of participants, with approximately 60 attendees present physically at the location, while others participated actively online.
The session was opened with messages from Mr. Cantemir Ciurea-Ercău, President of CNCAN, Mr. Raed Arafat, Secretary of State and Head of DSU, Mr. Carlos Torres Vidal, Director IEC – IAEA, and Mr. Teodor Chirica, President of the Nuclearelectrica Board of Directors. Mr. Petre Min, CIPRIERN Coordinator, presented the progress made in developing the exercise scenario and led technical discussions on key injects and national objectives.
The main goal of the meeting was to present the CONVEX-3 (2025) exercise scenario and provide participants with the opportunity to contribute to its refinement. National and international objectives were discussed, along with identifying limitations and defining the exercise scenario, as well as integrating new elements to enhance the realism of the simulation. Participants explored key injects in the exercise scenario and international coordination, ensuring that the scenario aligns with the best international practices.
During the meeting, a visit to the EOC CNCAN Center provided a practical perspective on emergency coordination, demonstrating the importance of a coordinated response within the exercise.
At the end of the meeting, the necessary measures for the next preparation stages were established, including the communication process during the organization. The event strengthened international cooperation and marked a crucial step in the preparations for CONVEX-3 (2025), reinforcing international partnerships and establishing a clear framework for the upcoming stages of the exercise.
