As part of the preparations for the CONVEX-3 (2025) exercise, the first meeting of the Working Group took place in April 2024 at the CIPRIERN headquarters in Bucharest. The event brought together representatives both at the national and international levels, with significant participation, including approximately 70 participants attending in person and a large and active online participation.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform the participating organizations about the exercise objectives, lessons learned, potential limitations and constraints of ConvEx-type exercises, as well as to discuss their role in testing and improving international responses to nuclear incidents.

During the event, essential aspects regarding the structure of the exercise, coordination among the involved parties, and alignment of its objectives were discussed. Furthermore, details were presented about Romania’s emergency response systems, with discussions on the structures and processes involved in managing emergency situations. Additionally, the organization of the CONVEX-3 exercise and its objectives were detailed, along with the essential steps for carrying out this event. International expertise was also addressed, contributing to the creation of an effective cooperation framework.

At the end of the meeting, the necessary measures for the next preparation stages were established, including strengthening international coordination and resource allocation. This meeting represented an important step in ensuring the success of the CONVEX-3 (2025) exercise, reinforcing international partnerships and establishing a clear framework for the upcoming stages.
